Saddle Sores

Cyclists have been using Bag Balm for years, to help soothe saddle sores, chapped lips, and scrapes. We've even heard from Olympic athletes

“We used Bag Balm to prepare for the 1996 Olympics. We were actually in a tough situation where we were having this chafing and it was really bad for three workouts a day. And my teammate Adam Laurent said “Hey, I have a little  secret for you,” he’s like, “Two words: Bag Balm.” And I went to this...store and bought some of this stuff, put it in the chamois and everything healed up before the Olympics. It’s amazing. It’s so cool that now they’re bringing it to triathletes, runners, cyclists because really, this was the stuff, this is the only stuff that worked. So thanks guys!"— Sky Christopherson

Bicycling Magazine has been on board with Bag Balm for years.

“What we like: It’s great for soothing saddle sores. After you talk yourself past the fact that the stuff is made to soothe cow udders, you can realize the beauty of Bag Balm. Smear some Double-B on saddle sores, chapped lips or scrapes to soothe and moisturize. It also works reasonably well as chamois lube--it’s thick and tenacious enough. However, petroleum jelly breaks down certain materials (remember high-school health class?), so check with your shorts manufacturer before rubbing it on your chamois.

Our Verdict: You’ll never regret having a tin of Bag Balm handy.”
